Mile-High Quiet
from a journal
Writing under the umbrella's edge, Cedars tall as prayer, A dragonfly says hello in the shade, And I'm waiting here. For the hummingbird's return, For the deer to cross, My small shed catching light, In this quiet I could stay. Forever beneath these trees, Forever in this calm, Where the world slows down And I remember home.
